Publications with Austrian records of fungi up to now included in the database are available on this homepage under data sources. We kindly request information on publications or data sources not yet listed.
Currently in the database all distribution data are comprised of the Austrian Journal of Mycology (issues 1/1992-17/2008), of more comprehensive floristic monographies, and of many other publications.
Data of specimens in public herbariaIn Austria in public herbaria (WU, W, IB, GZU, SZU, LI) there are approximately over 100.000 fungal specimens, among them many type specimens. Information on these is of great value not only for the scientific community, but also for the interested public. Unfortunately up to now these data are not or only poorly digitised and thus often not useable. The initiative of a nationwide distribution database is overall appreciated for gaining open access also to the mycological treasuries in public herbaria. In our database fungal specimens of the herbaria WU (30.000), GJO (15.000) and IB (6.000) are already completely included.
Unpublished dataCollaborators who wish to submit unpublished observations have several possibilities for their report.
The fundament of the present database are over 150.000 observation data, contributed and digitised by Dkfm. Anton Hausknecht in collaboration with members of the ÖMG since ca. 1980 collected during numerous excursions (especially in East Austria). This fundament was updated in 2003 in relation to data structure and imported in the new, GIS-supported database program "BioOffice". This database is continuously augmented by many private and institutional data sources.
