Data contents
Observation data for the database should include the following contents:
Indispensable data
-
Data provider (surname, forename, reachability/contact information)
-
Taxon (following the given reference list)
-
Reliability of determination (sure/cf./aff./dubious/uncertain)
-
Herbarium specimen present? (if yes: herbarium acronym and specimen number)
-
Date of collection/observation (if day unknown, quoting of week/month/year)
-
Collector/observer (surname and forename)
-
Municipality of the observation locality
-
Name of locality (following the official Austrian Map ÖK 50.000)
Geographical referencing
- Geographical coordinates of the locality (degrees-minutes-seconds,
decimal degrees) or projected coordinates (BMN-28/31/34, UTM-32N/-33N)
-
If coordinates unknown: grid cell (MTB) with quadrant of locality.
In principle, newer observations should be reported as exact as possible,
with precise locality coordinates. If precise coordinates are absent, quoting
of MTB-quadrants is an alternative possible.
Desirable data
-
Methods and und principles of determination (literature)
-
Determinator (surname and forename)
-
Documentation (field protocol number / description sheets / pictures etc.)
-
Ecological data (substrate / habitats / vegetation / soil / climate / weather etc.)
-
Description of locality (precise description of the collecting location)
-
Elevation/altitude of locality (sea level +- 20 m)
Unnecessary data
Systematic placement of the fungal species (family / class etc.);
ecological data of the species which are not based on own observations
but on literature, e.g. type of nutrition (mycorrhiza / saprobism / parasitism).
